Oldest bar in bath and a great spot to have a drink or a snack.
If you are hungry, there are much better options to be found

On our first day visiting Bath and attempting to find somewhere for dinner, we quickly realized every non-pub requires reservations. We opted for Saracens as it was a bit quieter (at least in the front half away from the screens). Our table by the window was very good. Venue is warm and muggy, and table was pretty sticky from spilled drinks (filled riiigjt to the top!).

Order from the bar, and service from there was great. Friendly staff and helped us pick their favorites off the menu. I tried the rump steak and ale pie which came with chips or mash, peas, and cauliflower. My friend ordered the nachos and bbq chicken wings.

The steak pie was five star. Plus a dry cider on tap. Loved it! Veg on the side was bland, but who eats veg in a pub anyhow.

My friends nachos were good but needed more cheese. And they're very different from pub nachos in Canada (minimal melted white cheese, good thick crisps, tons of sour cream and guacamole). She liked the nachos (ate the parts with cheese) and said the wings were her favorite.

Overall I really liked this spot! My friend isn't so into pubs but still had a good time in the end.

Nice little British tavern. Did not get a chance to try the food as we had just had lunch. Wife went around shopping. The bartender was not here when I walked in had to wait a couple min but was courteous and nice when she got back

Nice selection of beers. Couple other patrons were there. A good place to relax and have a drink or two when your walking around Bath.

We went with low expectations and primarily because we were told that Charles Dickens used to frequent the pub. Our group ordered the cod and chips as well as meat pies. Everything was delicious!!  The fish and chips was the best we've had since being in England for a week. Fun ambiance for a pub-we watched a dart championship while we were there. The cider we ordered was good quality and best of all our utensils and glasses were all clean (we've had issues in other pubs). If we ever find ourselves in Bath again, we will definitely go back!

They claim to be the oldest pub in bath. We tried the fish and chips with local cask beer (as recommended by the pub) but were quite disappointed. The oil used to fry the chips and fish were probably as old as the pub.. The beer was lukewarm too. Very disappointed :(
